Finland is a lot like Denmark when it comes to the dating scene. The market is dominated by a few dating sites and apps that have a lot of members.
The best online dating sites and apps in Finland that I’ll discuss below will put you in a good position to get dates in this fine country. If at all possible, try to stick close to Helsinki, the city that has the highest number of singles compared to any other city in the country. Outside of Helsinki, most of these apps and sites are pretty dead.

Deitti was founded in 1997, making it Finland’s oldest dating website. Most of Deitti’s 270,000+ members are young and urban, with a full 50% under 30 years old.
In terms of features, Deitti is a simple site. There is no matching system and not many features for interacting with other profiles, but a clean website design manages to translate this lack of extraneous features into a benefit.
The site overall looks great and is super easy to navigate and use. Deitti supports profiles in Finnish, Swedish and English, so if you’re in Finland or looking for Finnish singles, definitely give this site some of your time.
Sign up Process
Signing up can be done by linking your Facebook profile or by manually entering your gender, match gender, birthday, city, username, email and password. Follow the link in a verification email and you are in.
At this point you are free to peruse the site as you wish, though there remains a fair amount left to complete in your profile. You can upload photos, write a title, fill in an About Me section, and complete sections pertaining to your appearance, lifestyle (drinking/smoking habits, favorite artists, food, art, etc.), everyday habits and activities, values and personality traits. You can also specify your ideal partner’s characteristics.
How to Locate Potential Matches
Deitti’s search features are quite limited. They provide no recommended matches, leaving you to your own devices to find a partner. You can customize your search to find that perfect match by filtering by gender, age, location, reason for joining the site, photo status, keyword, and much more (pretty much everything included in your own profile).
You can save your searches, which is helpful, and sort search results by Last logged in, Recent profiles and Recently edited. On the right side of the Search page, you’ll also find a selection of “Interesting profiles” to look through, though it’s unclear exactly what criteria Deitti uses to select these.
How to Communicate with Other Members
The communication features on Deitti are limited as well. You can send a Flirt, choosing between cute little images of hearts, thumbs-ups, etc. As a free member, you can send three of these a day; premium members can send more, and choose from more image options as well.
You can also add profiles to your favorites or send a message. Messages are text only, with the option of attaching images. You can bold or italicize your text and include links as well.

Deitti gives you a lot of control over the security and privacy of your profile. You can choose to keep your profile completely hidden or choose whether or not it will be visible to non-registered site visitors or visible in site advertising. You can also choose to only see and receive posts from Deluxe members.

If you don’t have any luck at the site above, I would recommend giving Treffit a try. Treffit, Finnish slang for “date”, is the dating portion of Finland’s largest social media site, Suomi24. Suomi24 is also an email provider, a hub for job and used car postings, and host of a hugely popular forum.
With a total of 1.9 million members, and just under 1 million live users each week, Suomi24 provides a large, diverse user-base for Treffit’s own members. As a dating site, Treffit benefits from having a mostly free service, many profiles to choose from, and a hassle-free, easy-to-use platform.

Signing up for Treffit is about as painless as it gets. Just pick a username and password, and enter your name, birthday, gender and email and you are good to go! Filling out your profile consists of two main sections: your own information, and what you’re looking for in a partner.
For your own information, you can include all of your basic information (gender, age, location, etc.), physical looks, background (children, ethnicity, education, employment, and income), lifestyle (smoking, drinking, exercise and travel habits), values (religious and political views), your favorite things (t.v., music, etc.), and whether or not you’d like to receive “gifts”. You can upload photos and videos as well.
The Ideal Partner section includes most of the above, basic information, looks, background, lifestyle, and values.
How to Locate Potential Matches
You can search for profiles (by location, age, gender, sexual orientation and desired relationship) and view limited profiles without even signing up! I always appreciate the option of dipping my toes in the water before diving in. To communicate with other members and see their photos and full profiles, you’ll have to sign-up. The good news is you can do most everything on the site for free, with the paid options simply providing a few perks.
Treffit also provides a matching feature, which shows you your percent compatibility with other members based on both of your “ideal partner” criteria.
How to Communicate with Other Members
Messaging with other users is mostly the same standard fare you see on other dating sites, with your choices ranging from sending a message (text only), adding them to your favorites, sending a flirt, and sending a “gift” (who sends these anyway?). You can also easily block or report a user for suspicious activity or undesirable content.
One unique communication feature is the Megaphone function, which allows you to post a message to the main search page. Anyone performing a search will see this message, which gives your profile a ton of publicity.

Besides the Megaphone feature, a unique feature Treffit offers (that I haven’t seen offered anywhere else) is cruises. Sometimes you will see party cruises, which you can register for on the site, that travel to a number of destinations around Scandinavia and promise an elite selection of the world’s best dance music.
Beyond that, Treffit’s main strength is its simplicity. Especially if you already have a Suomi24 profile, hopping on Treffit is a no-brainer, because you can join and be chatting with singles in mere minutes.

- Free – Sign up, create a profile, browse, message and flirt with 3 other users a day.
- Premium – Unlimited messaging (up to 100 users a day), see who visited or favorited your profile, read message notifications, better placement in search results, Megaphone feature, ad-free browsing.
E-Kontakti is a dating site for residents of Finland only. It was launched in 2009 and has around 350,000 members. E-Kontakti’s search and communication features are pretty basic, but it has a clean, uncluttered website, great customer support (for Finnish speakers) and solid security features.
Bottom-line, E-Kontakti isn’t the best dating site out there, but if you’re in Finland, and speak Finnish, it’s worth checking out. If you don’t live in Finland however, there’s not much reason to join, and you won’t be able to in any case

Signing up will take you 15-20 minutes. To start, enter your gender and the desired gender and age-range of your partner. Follow up with your birthday, location, marital status, drinking and smoking habits and whether you have and/or want children.
Also in this section, select your hobbies and interests in terms of music and sports. The next page includes more basic information (appearance, religion, etc.) and a text box for you write a bit about yourself. On the page after that, specify what kind of relationship you’re looking for. Finally, enter your username, password and email, upload a photo (optional), and you are officially registered.
How to Locate Potential Matches
E-Kontakti has no compatibility matching system, so it’s up to you to find that perfect match. A Simple Search will let you filter by gender, age-range, location, online status, photo status and last activity on the site.
Advanced Searches increase your filter options to include everything you selected in your profile, including marital status, drinking/smoking habits, religion, education and more. You can also search by username.
Another feature you can use is the Tinder-like “Suitable for You”, where you Like or Pass profiles one-by-one, and E-Kontakti notifies the both of you when there is a mutual match. You can browse through these mutual matches as well as profiles you’ve shown interest in and profiles that have shown interest in you.
This is a fun alternative to Searches, but you are shown only 5 people here a day, and as far as I can tell, the matches selected are chosen randomly, only fitting your basic age and gender requirements.
How to Communicate with Other Members
While there is no audio or video support available, E-Kontakti does give you a few different communication options to play with. “Flirts” give you two options: short, pre-written messages (e.g. Hello cutie!) and GIF-like emojis. You choose one of both options to include in the same message, or one without the other.
A step above a Flirt is an Ice-Breaker, where you choose a pre-written Subject line (e.g. Hi, how are you?) and a question, such as “What would be your perfect vacation?”. Free members can only send 5 ice-breakers. You can also add profiles to your favorites, and, once you’ve upgraded to premium, send email messages.
